Good weather continues to hold through the holiday weekend, mercifully sparing the coming gales until midweek (after most visitors have passed through). With yet another perfect day, we set sail for the grey whale highway, stumbling into a large group of some 200 Risso’s dolphin. With a breach here and there, and plenty of good looks, we continued on to find a pair of southbound grey whales, who were most cooperative and had little trouble garnering a few “Ooo’s and “Ah’s” with their mighty tails and tall blows. With precious few minutes left on the clock, we left the greys to take a quick ride up the continental shelf to see what else might he lurking in the languid waters before heading home. Alas, only birds, and a whole lot of phytoplankton welcomed us before we steared ‘er in.
