The blue whale sighting streak continued today!!! An amazing 9 blue whales popped up around the Pacifica during our 9AM trip. These animals hold the title of being the largest living animal on the planet and their population might be as low as 10000 animals worldwide. Our encounter with the blue whales occurred in 450 feet of water with huge schools of krill near the bottom. The abundance of krill kept the blue whales in a small area so our guest got many great looks at these massive whales. Some of the blue whales showed in pairs and some in trios and they fluked many times to the delight of our guest.

Not only did we see many blue whales today but we had a chance to see humpback whales and Risso’s dolphins. Our humpbacks showed up in a pod of 4 and did dive for about 8 minutes each time. When they did surface, they stayed close to each other and displayed their flukes nice and high. We also had great looks at 3 different pods of Risso’s dolphins during our explorations.
Come and join us on a trip soon! Thanks for reading!
