Rare bird alert! We sighted a Nazca Booby today while out whale watching today. This bird is pretty far out of range from where it normally calls home. Nazca Boobies are native to the Galapagos and are typically sighted in the equatorial regions. We rarely encounter this type of bird in Monterey Bay, but it is such a productive area that you can never rule it out! Our crew was very excited about this sighting and was a new species for most of them on board. We also sighted Risso’s Dolphins and Humpback Whales today. The mother and calf Humpbacks we encountered were very playful! Check out the vlog from Slater Moore of today’s trip by clicking here.
