After what seems to have been an eternity of rough seas and cancelled trips, Mother Nature opened her arms wide today with immaculate conditions. Barely a puff of breeze laid the faintest of texture over low, gentle waves. Light, wispy clouds under a mostlt sunny sky provided great lighting for taking pictures of KILLER WHALES Y’ALL. Not just any killer whales; today’s trip sighted the CA-51’s aka Star’s Pod aka “The Friendly Pod.” Most of the trip was spent with 51c aka “Bumper” who gave us incredible looks and even breached high and proud, twice. On the way back, we got a few quick looks at 3 grey whales and a small pod of Risso’s Dolphin, rolling into Monterey Harbor well into overtime with a few Sea Shanties and thunderous applause from some very excited passengers.
